We have been repairing and making musical
instruments for the past 10 years. We offer repairs and
servicing to all string instruments, Fret work,
structural repairs, restorations, refinishes, etc We
offer good rates and free quotes.
We currently make flatback mandolins, Irish bouzoukis,
guitar– bouzoukis, guitars, harps and pentatonic
lyres. We have had a great response to our instruments
from musicians on the Scottish folk scene. We believe in
fair pricing to make our instruments affordable to both
amateur and professional alike.
The mandolins are designed with the playing of Celtic
music in mind. We believe the roundness and sweetness of
tone suit this type of music more than the F and A style
American bluegrass instruments. Our guitar–
bouzoukis like wise are suitable for Celtic music. For
those players who want the stringing and general sound of
the Irish bouzouki but with that extra body, power and
warmth of a guitar, then these are ideal. They are
especially good for song accompaniments.
We avoid intricate inlay work unless specifically
requested as this adds dramatically to the cost and does
nothing for the sound of the instruments. We use wood
bindings and soundhole inlays. Plastic bindings available
on request.
